hey...do you feel like your being watched?

one very moist sunday in a woodland down chagford way, nic and mca decided to do the coupley
thing and have a mooch around a rather tasty bouldering venue, seemingly in the middle of an
extreme makeover by the ‘granite liberation front’ (GLF) unaware of the impending paranormal
activity that would prove to be very unsettling for at least one of our intrepid duo- read on..

un-named venue- yes those who
know it  will recognise the photos
and those who don’t...oh well

amongst the hundreds of green,
moss covered rocks lurking in
the undergrowth, you just know
that something is happening
when you spot very shiny clean
boulders, bloody big boulders
that seem to lure unsuspecting
happy wandering boulderers to
stare and point in awe at the
clean and ready to play across
and up on granite monoliths-
a lot of these rocks are big-
fifteen feet or so, culminating
in a very large ‘shaptor esk’
face at the top of the main
sector that looks to provide
some pretty damn fine routes
along its clean granite walls-
certainly several problems
appear to be a bit...no no, no
let’s make that a lot higher
than you would want to fall off

I really couldn’t help feeling
at this stage that we were
being watched though!
no...really..honest!

halloween just around the corner so look
upon this as our contribution to world of
all things spooky
twinned with
shaptor rock
after a few hours of non-climbing as it was very wet, we decided to do the next really coupley sort
of thing and go for afternoon tea in chagford to get over the essence of paranoia that seemed to
be following me about- very nice tea with a memorable quote from nic on leaving the tea shop “ah
that was a lovely cup of...oh f*** chocolate cake..I didn’t see the f****** chocolate cake” well steady
woman, we still have brownies!- so imagine my surprise when I unloaded the photos from my
camera, and as I carefully went through them one by one listening to tenacious D, I suddenly felt
a shiver run up my spine- seemingly in the areas that I felt really  spooked there appeared to be
ghostly, misty shapes on the pictures that I had taken, I really couldn’t figure them out so nic asked
her friend who is ‘in the know’ with such things and she said “wood faeries”..............yeeeaaaa ok!
