places that we really like eh? hmm...think for a moment...places like bovey woods for
example-this is still being developed by a hardened few, but what a venue for a fine day
out!-great article by Tom Rainbow www.javu.co.uk that starts to put some sort of order
to a seemingly countless number of boulders strewn about this bovey based woodland-
right away you notice bits of rock lurking in the shrubbery in every direction-this can cause
the average person to do a lot of walking and pointing long before crawling onto the first
problem-there are many named problems too, if interested seek and ye shall find....oh yes!
the only downside would be the endless supply of bitey wood ants and the tick that hitched
a ride back on nic’s belly-also there appeared to be a blair witch type series of, lets call them
“things” on the top of shaptor (maryland/north bovey witch exchange?)...oh and at one point
I am sure that I heard a banjo-
that did it-funkmaster stan got quite animated with the mention of banjo-a quick review of
“deliverance” with a bit of “blair witch” thrown in turned his comical folkey grin into a
thousand yard stare of terror and set him retreating for his nintendo ds and a spot of safe,
therapeutic mario cart-
this place just goes to show what can be found if you hit the landranger and explore maps
and look for rocky stuff-pioneering spirit and all that....happy hunting but respect always
TICK ADVICE-hey these are really nasty little varmints, if you are unfortunate to find one on
yourself (you won’t feel them, honest!) don’t feel tempted to take up smoking so you can
burn it off, they have to be kind of twisted out holding as much of the critter as possible-
a good idea is to keep the tick in something and take it with you if you decide to seek
medical advice-avoid wearing shorts in these kind of areas and wear light clothing so you
can see them and brush them off- if you insist on shorts, this will put you off-THEY CAN GO
FOR THE GROIN AREA! so it’s an all in one “doctor evil” plastic suit for me next time then
