is this thing on?- ok....funkmaster stan here- those climber types over at ndcc hq sent me
one of those emails that said “oi, stan, how about some input of a word based variety for
our members”- never done a blog entry so folk fm gets handed over to snoop dog colin
for the bank holiday while I get a mac to play with (turns out its a computer)
well that fab fellow is injured again- having just recovered from a strange elbow strain from
a few months back- he was well enough to drill lots of holes in the pilton wall before leaving
a message on mca’s answerphone...something like “saturday night blah blah beer blah blah
******g idiot blah blah swollen up to the size of a football” or words to that effect- never get
injured doing that climbing stuff do they?
mca is looking at SLAP holds, or features or whatever they are, he did tell me but...well I
wasn’t listening- I think they may be textured rock type thingies or something that obviously
floats his boat-
nic and mca both took the boys down to the barn for their first venture into the world of
bouldering (why not, it has to be THE best place for that in the south western shire)- cue one
five and seven year old terrorising simons organic tor based playground and apparently it
ended up with them getting on top of the boulder and down climbing off all by themselves-
next trip will be including daren and liz’s offspring too-
I also hear that both nic and mca ended up in a teepee recently with some danish outdoor
types and nic’s dad who introduced them to the delights of GAMMEL DANSK-a danish form
of liquid fire that was consumed through a bizarre stealth based drinking game- well it turns
out that by the time mca had realized this- being a ‘critical situation’ that sparked the shot
round it was way too late (he lost the feeling in his eyebrows for twenty four hours) so if it
comes to gammel dansk and danish outdoor types-watchout its thirty eight percent proof!
the state of the art and the art of indifference
well...it turns out that mr hirst bloke who lives down the road from mca dabbles a bit with the
old art and apparently sells a couple now and then- yes yes but can you make a living from it
I say- well according to snoop he does, still think he would benefit from a job in farming and
do the art stuff at weekends though-or be a pirate radio dj......rather like me-
and, talking of art our very own reclusive guru mca is working on a new show for 09- not a soul
has seen it yet but nic tells me that it is excellent stuff again and very relevant-
so looking back, here is a mini retrospective of some of mca’s paintings reproduced without
the kind permission of the artist- I expect the phone will be ringing once this gets uploaded
folk fm news and stuff
not much to say really in this department-mca is currently trying to find some holds that have
gone astray somewhere between entre-prises climbing wall supplies and pilton wall-turns out
there is another pilton wall up north so the confusion could get fun (or not)
dartrock climbing wall has a very sexy glass roof type set up now in place and it seems that
the opening I beleive is still on track for jan 2009
the barn boulder appears to be growing again-the wood,screw and hammer gnomes are turning
up after midnight it seems-
there is talk of an outdoor bouldering comp involving ndcc but where and when and how I know
nothing about as yet- possibly once the leaves are off the trees and the ants fly south to benidorm
for the winter (could that be a woodland based location then?)
folk fm roadshow eh? we have already done one so another for 2009 will be on the cards no doubt
with the “gravity is a by-product” tour as suggested by fab-

know will be looking out for the gold elvis shades and the bobble hat-and there isn’t many of those
around the dartmoor hood with the bouldering turf wars-morris men gangs and drive by strummins
in the world that is subversive homeboy folk so get clicking-
and what seems to be going on with nic these days-for some strange reason she seems to be
inexplicably drawn towards brentor in a “close encounters of the third kind” type of way
